kemi from nigeria on migration

I feel the policies of the G8 has really affected the Nigerian people because these days you know we hear of Nigerian immigrants everywhere as illegal immigrants. And it's mostly the policies of the Western countries that has actually pushed people out of Nigeria. Because the high level of unemployment, the poverty and the educational policies too. It has really affected the young people in Nigeria because their parents can not actually pay for their school fees, because part of the IMF conditionalities is that they should 'hands off' tertiary education in Nigeria. And that has really affected the Nigerian people, because they can hardly feed themselves thoughtless of sending their children to university.

People have always believed that having a university education is the right thing to do. And they have not been able to meet that. And because of that hopelessness, the Western world too is getting the repercussion of their own policies. And that is why they must learn to live with illegal immigrants. And the fraudulent acts of Nigerians. Everybody believes Nigerians are fraudulent. We are 130 million people and almost everybody is educated and wants the basic necessities of life, which IMF conditionalities has actually made it impossible for people to have. So I think whatever policies the Western world make, they should make sure they're humane – in whatever policies they make towards Africa or the Third World countries.
